RoboTIS stands for "Robotics in Onera TIS Scientific Branch" and groups together Onera in-house research activities that are mainly conducted through Federative Research Projects.

Four scientific branches coordinate Onera activities and TIS branch focuses on Information Processing and Systems. TIS includes three Departments :

Robotic federative activities are performed through several projects. ReSSAC (Research experimental platform for uninhabited Systems and embedded systems verifying Safety requirements and capable of Autonomy and Cooperation) is the research platform for studies on on-board autonomous decision making capabilities. Real time experiments are performed on several types of uninhabited fixed wings and helicopters (specially Yamaha RMax and Benzin Vario). ReSSAC platform holds up the following projects : Action, Spider, Ideas and Pedro.

  • The goal of the Prospective Research Programme Action  is to investigate the available means and design future technologies in order to upgrade the performance of the localization function within a network of heterogeneous autonomous vehicles. Onera is in partnership with CNRS/Laas and they are also involved in Rosace project - RObots and self-adaptive Embedded Communicating Systems.
  • Project Spider is dedicated to the development of image processing algorithms and vision-based control functions for autonomous vehicles.
  • Project Ideas studies the proof tools for the safety properties of embedded systems regarding the flight, navigation and mission control avionics.
  • Project Pedro focuses on the guidance of small drones in presence of aerologic perturbations. Tests are performed in B20 Free Flight Laboratory of Onera (Lille).
  • Project Amao develops perception and decision-making systems to implement on board uninhabited combat aerial vehicles.
  • Project Remanta aims at designin nature-inspired flapping wings aerial vehicles.
